Firm on the Rock

In my dream last night, there was a consistent theme: things just weren't as they seemed. In the dream I saw a friend - looked like her, laughed like her, sounded like her - but it wasn't quite HER. I then met someone famous, only to find that he was about 2ft shorter than I expected. Another friend appeared, and told me that her hair color wasn't real and neither were her teeth! Then my usual coffee shop in the dream turned out to actually be another entirely different business, while its customers went from being normal coffee lovers to a different sort of consumer. And the dream went on and on in this way, constantly shocking me as I learned new information that changed the way I interacted with people and the way I lived my life. At one stage I remember being so taken aback by all this that I tried to run along a sandy path to get away, but I kept slipping and falling! So I found a stone road and was able to literally skip away from the scene with great joy.

As I prayed into this, the Father had many things to say. But the most important thing on His heart for me to share with you is this: STAY FIRM ON THE ROCK, AND YOU WILL NOT FALL.

How do we stay firm on the Rock?

Stay in the Word. (Read Psalms, Proverbs and John if you don't know where to go). Eat it up.

Stay in prayer. You can follow the Lord’s prayer if you need guidance (Matthew 6:9-14).

Worship Him. Sing His praises. Remind yourself of His goodness and all that He has done for you.

Surrender again to His Lordship. Say with me, "Come what may, Lord....I will trust you." (Read Romans 8:28; Isaiah 61; Isaiah 54:17; Psalm 23).

Stay at the feet of Jesus. Get your worth from Him, not what you do, who you know, how well you perform, how much you have, or what others say.

Jeremiah 29:11 says that God wants to prosper and not harm, giving us a FUTURE and a HOPE. We can skip around like joy-filled children when we are building on the rock. Regardless what comes, regardless of the storm, regardless of the shock of things not being quite what they seem, JESUS makes a way for us to STAND FIRM and not come crashing down.

**Keep your eyes on Him and your feet on the rock. He's holding you close. No need to go searching for anything other than HIM. Psalm 91**

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:24‭-‬27 ESV
